I agree that necromancer skills are viable. I am not so convinced that necromancer primaries are as viable. Sorry, I should have been clearer in that statement you quote.

And I am arguing that Necro primaries are still perfectly viable. As Ensign put it:

Quote:
Higher attribute levels and the use of any secondary you want. On rare occasions you don't really want a secondary or high attribute levels, and are better off just going Mesmer/Necromancer for the Fast Casting. Skill bars that really want to do that are fairly rare though.

/signed, necros are still perfectly viable. Adapt your play to the new metagame and stop complaining about bugfixes.

This isn't a bugfix. It's a nerf. A well deserved nerf.

ok, as a necro myself of course I'd be happier had it not been nerfed, but this half energy off of SR is just from spirits right? Because if it's SR cut in half in general, then they just screwed my MM from behind >.>

That's pretty smart when a somebody interprets a game rule modification as some kind of personal attack against players. Yeah, that must really be the underlying motivation. That makes all kinds of sense. You've really nailed that one down.

This is the point that seems to be missing on people. This isn't some MMO where you have to spend a year and a half on your single character which gets nerfed to the point of crippling your ability to be competitive. In GW, if one skill gets nerfed, by implication all others are boosted--which is fine, because not only can you change your build in a heartbeat, you can change your class completely.

If something gets nerfed, then switch. Problem solved. The fun in GW, IMO, is finding new ways to do things, anyway.

Urgh.... Please don't knock the necros.

Consider their many strengths as a support class and insidious class.

SS, SV (shivers), Orders, Witch Hunter, and Blood/Spike are still excellent builds.

If you're thinking the MM nerf killed necros, try again. MM Nerf (or adjustment as I prefer it's called) just tailored MMing to fit the new skill and prevent whiners. MM (IMO) is the lowest form of necromancing b/c once you have your minions, you can simply spam Blood of the Master and they'll live. It requires a bit less skill to keep minions alive than select adequate targets and execute them in other builds. I've been playing Necro since I started. Trust me, they're a far more powerful build than some realize.

Necros are still good, stop complaining about the nerf...it was kinda odd to get energy from spirits anyway...btw, I devised a way to beat the spirit spammer team just now...thank my guidebook that was randomly open to a certain page with a certain skill on it...

Necrospike is useless if you 1-shot their entire team using a TS coordinated spike. (hell, an unholy feast spike could probably do it if you prepped with AtB and had an assassin secondary to instantly close the range. Don't forget those teleports are just barely longer range than that aggro bubble).

...You realize that the blood bomb is (from my PoV) still usable, right?

Anguished was Lingwah anyone? (Summons spirit when dropped...drop all at once for insane energy).

Necromancers are sweet... even though soul reaping does pretty much squat, I LOVE necromancers. They can do alot of good stuff and paired with the right secondary profession for the user, necromancers can be killing machines (then when everything is dead you can summon shi.t, lol) Necromancers can become uber cool. (try making a N/E or a N/Me they r sweet...then dance )

Yeah, how can continual sacrificing be so hard? I mean playing SS is SOOO much harder, all you have to do is to echo SS and put it on targets, definitely harder than a MM trying to stay alive while sacrificing and find a balance between summoning and healing minions and him/herself.

Or did you forget about Order Necs... No... spamming Order every 5 seconds and getting energy is so much harder. Set 17% vs. 25% as a MM while a MM continues to summon while sacrificing.

Or, Battery Nec. So hard, I have to use Blood is Power, Blood Ritual, AND Blood Well on Monks and Corpses. Definitely harder than a MM, since MM must have infinite health to sacrifice since 25% sacrifice is like nothing. Not to mention Battery Nec gets healed by the Monk since the Monk gets pretty much infinite energy for a short amount of time.

Ever heard of Strength?

On-topic: In my opinion, Soul Reaping is about the best energy management you can have. As I see it, if you aren't getting a benefit from it, either your team has some serious killing problems or you don't have a spirit spammer which is a huge advantage anyway.

Not seeing a problem really.

To Auraofmana: 25% sacrifice is nothing if the MM has some sense and brings Aura of the Lich instead of that silly golem... Big yellow numbers are cool, but so are small red numbers.

The BotM sacrifice without AotL is completely manageable by any half-decent player.

If you're going to bump a 3-month-old thread, at least stay on topic rather than make a random post on how you love necromancers. Closed.
